Garrett Berdan, RDN
@Spokane Public Schools
Garrett Berdan is a registered dietitian and chef who has worked in school nutrition since 2009. In 2018, he began working as the menu planner for Spokane Public Schools, Washington’s second largest school district. Previously, Garrett worked as an independent, K12 nutrition consultant providing culinary education, quantity standardized recipe development, food communications, and marketing services. In 2011, he received the White House Champions of Change award for his work in child nutrition. Garrett is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone and remains an active member of CIA’s Kids Collaborative. Garrett also serves on the advisory board for the Culinary Institute of Child Nutrition at ICN.
Beth Thompson, MS, RDN, LD
Beth Thompson is a licensed and registered dietitian with a master’s degree in nutrition education with almost 25 years in school nutrition. Beth is currently the program director for Pickens County Schools, a small district located in north-central Georgia. Beth previously worked in Metro Atlanta for Cobb County as a supervisor and then as the assistant director. Beth started out her dietetics career developing recipes for the Georgia Department of Agriculture and Commodity Boards across the state. From there she went on to work in sales, marketing, and distribution all within the food industry before moving to school nutrition. Recently, she was named a Top Achiever by Foodservice Equipment & Supplies magazine for her go above and beyond work accomplishments.
