Lena Wilson, a registered dietitian, was appointed on August 1, 2021, as the Assistant Commissioner for the Food and Nutrition Division at the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). She oversees all activities related to compliance with regulations for the 12 federal nutrition programs. She has more than 20 years of experience with federal nutrition programs, including 13 years as a director of school meal programs. Her experience provides a practical look at operations from differing perspectives to apply a common-sense approach for program oversight. Lena joined TDA in 2019 as the Administrator for Compliance after serving 7 years at the Colorado Department of Human Services. Lena earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and a master’s degree in Management, with a Human Resources emphasis, from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She serves in numerous professional and social volunteer roles that allow her to support others.
Vonda Ramp M.S., R.D
Pennsylvania State Department of Education Director, Child Nutrition Programs @Division of Food and Nutrition, Bureau of Budget and Fiscal Management
Vonda Ramp is PA State Department of Education’s (PDOE) Director for the Child Nutrition Programs, which includes oversight for 8 federal child nutrition programs and federal and state nutrition education and child nutrition health efforts. She started with PDOE in 2002 as a Public Health Nutrition Consultant supervising the School Nutrition Programs for 3 years prior to being promoted to the State Director. Vonda has practiced as a dietitian in both clinical and community settings working with Long Term Care, Acute Care, and Sub Acute Care. She has community experience working with low income expecting mothers and outpatient counseling as well as practical experience in restaurant and institutional food service management. She obtained a Master of Science Degree in Human Nutrition from West Virginia University and subsequently became credentialed as a Registered Dietitian. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Service Management from East Stroudsburg University.
Lonnie Burt, MS, RD, CD-N
Senior Food & Child Nutrition Services Director @Hartford Public Schools
Lonnie is presently employed as the Senior Food & Child Nutrition Services Director for the Hartford Public Schools where she oversees the school meal program, including Breakfast, Lunch, Afterschool Snacks, At-Risk Supper, Summer Feeding and the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Grant. She has worked in Child Nutrition for the past 36 years and has been in Hartford since 2004. Lonnie also works as an Adjunct Professor for Manchester Community College where she teaches classes in Nutrition and Human Resources for the Hospitality Program. Lonnie is a Registered Dietitian who earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from The University of Saint Joseph and a Master’s Degree in Allied Health from the University of Connecticut. Lonnie is a past President of SNACT (2015-2016) and is currently Chair of the Child Nutrition Committee. Previous positions include Education Chair, Personnel Chair, and Marketing Chair.
